This past weekend I got to celebrate my birthday with my family, and it was amazing. I frequently get sympathy for having a birthday 5 days before Christmas, but I actually really like it. (Jason is not such a big fan of my birthday being in the midst of all the December business. :) ) As a kid, my parents always did a great job of separating my birthday from Christmas. My birthday presents were wrapped in separate birthday paper not Christmas paper, and they never tried to give me just one gift with the idea that it counted for Christmas and my birthday. I never felt like I got overlooked; in fact, I think I probably got more attention for my birthday than most. This past weekend Jason and the girls went out of their way to make my birthday special. I think it was one of my favorite birthdays ever. Jason got me 4 tickets to go see Wicked on Sunday evening. I've been wanting to see it ever since it came to the Pantages, so I was thrilled. We surprised Megan and Cara and took them too. (Coley and Ty were too little to go but they had a great time playing with Braiden and Gavin while we were gone.) On Saturday Jason and my mom put together an amazing birthday dinner and dessert. Megan insisted that the dining room be decorated for my birthday and not Christmas, so they took down all the Christmas decorations in the room. They set the table with beautiful linens, and then they went outside and Jason made a beautiful wreath centerpiece out of Star Jasmine vines and purple roses (Sorry, girls; he's mine). It was a really fun weekend!
