We love fall break!

When I started this blog I thought it would be so great to be able to keep up with our life as it happens. . . yah, not so much. My girls had the first week of October off from school and I thought it would be a great time to catch up. Well, it was a great time . . . I just didn't get caught up on anything. But, we loved our time together. We went down to the American Girl Store for a tea party to celebrate Nicole's 4th birthday. Her birthday was in August but this worked out to be the best time to go. She was a little confused since it had been over a month since we told her she was four. After we finished singing Happy Birthday and she blew out the candle, she asked, "How many am I now?" I don't think she believed me when I told her she was still 4.

Sweet friends!

There are some great things about living in California. I would imagine there aren't too many places where you can spend the day swimming at the beach in October. We had a great day playing in the water, digging in the sand, eating the sand (mostly Ty on this one), wearing the sand (mostly Coley on this one; it's a unique gift she has), and visiting with friends. I love the beach. There's something about it that makes me so very happy. It makes my kids happy too, and I love to watch them enjoy it. This was probably my favorite day this week.

The tiny black spots in the upper left corner are 2 dolphins the kids saw
swimming by while they were playing. There were so excited!

So THIS is what a beach looks like. We thought they all were made of rocks...someday we'll see a real sandy beach!!! I am so jealous. We have had a fire in the fireplace every day and gone are the capris and short sleeves!? How I'd love to beach right now...
